Description

Speaking of Shakespeare: for guys only

Want to master the stage and make every character you play unforgettable? This class is your ticket to adding power and clarity to your performances by being intentional about the way you speak on stage!  Dive into Shakespeare and learn how to captivate casting directors, audiences, and your fellow actors. You’ll develop essential skills that will set you apart in any role, plus you’ll get to work on:
  1. A 10-20 line monologue, soliloquy, or a sonnet, and
  2. A short scene with your classmates
Whether you're into acting, singing, or just want to improve your public speaking, being clear, articulate, and impactful is key. And here’s the best part: the pieces you memorize will be perfect for auditions! Get ready to step up your game and shine on stage!

Teacher:

Ray Brown

A Florida native, Ray moved to Golden, CO in 1981 while in high school. After graduating from Colorado Christian University with a BA in Theater and Directing, Ray studied at the National Theater Conservatory & Denver Center Theater Company. In 1990, Ray stepped away from pursuing a professional acting career to get married and raise a family with his wife of Trudi (married 34+ years). Ray and Trudi relocated to Colorado Springs in 1999, and Ray continued to act and direct as a hobby. Over the years, he has appeared in local and regional television commercials, a few films, and in various semi-professional, collegiate, and community theater venues along the Colorado Front Range and in Alaska. Currently, assisted by Trudi, Ray directs community productions in the Colorado Springs area and provides 1-on-1 tutorials for performers who want to refine their craft. As a second generation student of Edith Skinner (author of Speak with Distinction), he brings a focus on speech and diction to the stage.
